Smart ship design

From a sketch to a vision for an East Lake cruise boat.

The Digital Media Camp explored the Neptune Cup design brief, bringing together traditional Chinese roof forms, hull structures and a 3D scene.

01 / CONCEPT

Start with the East Lake visitor experience

Three teams explored the design concept, functions and application scenarios. Sketches established the hull, cabin and traditional roof forms as a basis for discussion.

Paper sketches establish the hull and traditional Chinese roof design.

02 / MODELLING

Develop structure and detail

Across five 3ds Max sessions, students learned basic forms, materials, lighting and rendering, then applied these methods to the hull, cabin and individual components.

03 / PRESENTATION

Present the design in context

The team completed modelling, materials and scene rendering, and produced a 3D-printed model. The final materials record three design reports, four slide decks and four presentations.

Green propulsion, intelligent navigation, monitoring and AI guidance were design concepts. This page presents educational models and scenes.
